Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Goldendoodle? Why would I want one?

The Goldendoodle is a highly popular breed of dog in the United States today. Despite being a mixed breed dog, it combines the intelligence and temperament of the Poodle with the loyalty, love, and athleticism of the Golden Retriever, making it an excellent choice for families and companionship. In addition, Goldendoodles are known for being hypoallergenic and "non-shedding" dogs, though it is important to note that their coats may vary. We encourage those interested in learning more about the breed to seek out additional information, which is readily available.

What size can I expect a South Paw Medium Goldendoodle to be?

You can expect a South Paw Medium Goldendoodle to weigh around 25–35 pounds and stand roughly 17–20 inches tall at the shoulder when fully grown, with some variation depending on genetics. They’re the perfect medium size—big enough for fun and play, but still manageable for most homes.

Will my puppy have a non-shedding coat?

We understand that many families are interested in hypoallergenic and non-shedding dogs, and we strive to produce puppies with those qualities. While we cannot guarantee that all of our Goldendoodle puppies will be hypoallergenic or non-shedding, our Multigen breeding program has a high success rate. Our Sire, an F3b Mini Doodle, comes from an impressive pedigree of non-shedding dogs, and our Dam is an F2b Golden Doodle with a non-shedding coat. All of our pups at South Paw Doodles have had non-shedding coats, so we have good reason to expect the same from our current and future litters.

Do you offer breeding rights?

No, we do not offer breeding rights.

Do you require that my puppy be spay/neutered?

It is important to note that we require all of our puppies to be spayed or neutered. Our Health Guarantee contract states that females must be spayed by 7 months of age and males must be neutered by 9 months of age, although we will defer to your personal veterinarian if they recommend waiting until the pup is 12 months of age. You must provide documentation of the procedure being done within 30 days of the procedure, otherwise the Health Guarantee will be void.

How often do you have a litter available?

We take pride in being a small, specialized boutique breeder. Our focus is on breeding top-quality Medium Goldendoodles at competitive prices. Currently, we have one female Dam, who is bred once a year. We retired Miss Bo 2 years ago, and now Scarlett (Bo's daughter) is our breeding dog. Therefore, we only have one litter at a time, and they tend to go quickly.

How do I apply to get on the list for the current litter?
